Tone of voice

Tone of voice, the sound of your brand, and how you talk to your audience.

Every brand should have one, but not all of them do.

Do you ever read something on a website and get bored halfway through, or just don’t manage to connect to what it is saying?

Chances are, they have something super valuable to say, just not the most engaging way of saying it.

This is where tone of voice comes in, and can be super hands in building a relationship with your audience, customers and potential customers. To start, think about what your brand would sound like if it were a person. How would it say hello? Would it be friendly? Professional? Or something totally different?

It is essentially the way you communicate and it is so important that you stay consistent with it. What I mean by this is that your website and your socials should mirror each other in their tone and writing style. You may want a more elevated version for LinkedIn, and a chattier style on Instagram but ultimately, they have to match up.

When you do this, it helps the reader or customer to make a connection with you and it builds up trust in their mind; long story short they feel like they know you a lot quicker when your platforms are all coherent, instead of second-guessing if you’re even the same brand.

If you want to improve your tone of voice or create it from scratch, it is one of my absolute favourite things to work on so get in touch. We will see your business personified and create a whole bunch of things to get you walking the walk and, more importantly, talking the talk!
