Greenwashing

It’s a word we associate with fast-fashion brands and big corporate companies, but greenwashing is a real problem amongst other industries and smaller businesses too.

So, how can you act against greenwashing in your own business?

Be transparent

If you make claims in the sustainability or eco-friendly field, transparency is vital. Being able to show your process, suppliers, and the business journey is part and parcel of working in this area. No one is asking you to be perfect, but they are asking you to be honest.

Watch your language

Words are used carelessly and often interchangeably when they have different meanings – take eco-friendly and sustainable as an example. So, watch the language you are using and make sure that you’re using words wisely.

Be open to change

This is a journey, and it is one you need to be open to exploring if you’re working in these fields. Be open to change, discussions, others asking questions, and coming together to create a positive shift and change.

If you’re looking to focus more on sustainability within your business, send me a message to discuss how copy and PR can support your journey.
